| Now Asia's leading
manufacturer of wireless microphone systems, MIPRO was
established by KC Chang in Taiwan in 1995. An experienced
Audio and RF engineer, Chang's early hobbies included
audio and wireless-related electronics and ultimately
led him into a successful career in the professional audio
electronics industry. Following his graduation from university
in 1960 he taught in high school and worked in his electronics
shop where he became renowned for assembling tube radios,
amplifiers and various items of sound equipment - the
ideal learning combination of good theory and real hands-on
practical experience. He designed the first FM wireless
microphone back in 1970 and followed it with his first
patent for a condenser microphone capsule in 1971. Later
that year Chang founded Chiayo Electronics Company, which
specialised in manufacturing wireless microphone systems
and condenser microphones. Chiayo went on to become the
first fully-certified wireless microphone manufacturer
in Taiwan. Being both the president and an engineer, he
devoted his time solely to R&D. After 20 years of
successful operation, Chiayo was rewarded with listing
as one of Taiwan's 500 Best Manufacturers. In
1995 Chang sold his shares in Chiayo after encountering
differences of management philosophy, and founded MIPRO
Electronics to focus on and further develop specialised
advanced wireless technology products - all under the
umbrella of a progressive new management philosophy.
As well as involving himself in new product research
and development, Chang continues to contribute to the
exciting and innovative design concepts that are so
typical of MIPRO products. It was a fitting reward for
a very successful career and a job well done when MIPRO
was recently listed as Taiwan's Best Microphone Manufacturer
- a real achievement in what is now the world's centre
of microphone manufacture.
Today, with40 years' experience of
the wireless market to call upon, CEO Chang has set
up a world-class production facility lead by a dedicated
management under the control of president Solomon Chang.
Outside of Asia MIPRO competes with top wireless manufacturers
around the world. The company operates from in an ultra-modern
5000 square meter facility in Chiayi, employing 150
highly-qualified and experienced staff and having a
registered capital of over US$4m. It is certified by
TUV Germany to the stringent ISO-9001 standard for manufacturers
and has been classified as Class A (the highest level
of classification) by Taiwan's Electronics Association.
The company's catalogue consists of a full range of
wireless microphones and wireless portable PA systems
suitable for public address, entertainment, broadcast
and studio applications. These products have won numerous
awards in Taiwan, most notably the UHF line. As a result,
MIPRO is Asia's best-known wireless brand and has comfortably
the largest market share in Taiwan - as well as maintaining
international business in providing ODM to some of the
most prestigious microphone manufacturers elsewhere
in the world.
Behind the success story is a mission
statement that would see the company serving the international
wireless microphone market with innovative designs,
quality products and satisfied customers' To this end,
all of its products have been certified by various worldwide
telecomm approvals bodies and meet international wireless
and safety standards including CE and ETS for Europe,
FCC for the US, and DOC for Canada, along with other
European and Asian approvals. And in order to bring
its work to the attention of the international pro-audio
market, it exhibits annually at established shows such
as America's NAMM and NSCA shows; Germany's Musikmesse,
Asia's Pala (Singapore), Koba (Korea) and Calm and BIRTV
(China), and Londons' Plasa.
In 2001 MIPRO introduced the revolutionary
ACT-series of wireless microphone systems. It has several
world firsts: ACT (Automatic Channel Targeting) function,
colour LCD panel, hot-swappable receiver modules. The
series's flagship - the ACT-707 - is a 1,000-channel
PC-controllable system. The entry-level ACT-707SE system
has a foolproof one-button 'auto-scan' and ACT functions
making it the easiest receiver and transmitter channel
to setup in the industry today.
Recently a total of 26 UHF ACT-series
wireless systems was used simultaneously during a production
of the Evita musical show featuring an all-star cast
over in Taiwan from the London West End production.
According to the show producer, Ben Rogers of United
Kingdom, he was so impressed by the system's strong
and reliable RF performance and transparent audio quality
that he will be looking to specify it on his UK tours
and musical concerts lined up for the future.
MIPRO is currently represented throughout
the Asian region by a network of distributors covering
Korea, China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia,
Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. It also includes
Audio Telex in Australia, and Meditec for the South
Asia region.
