
Amadeus winner (Austrian Musicaward) and
MIPRO-Endorser Hansi Lang were awarded with the "Goldenen
Verdienstzeichen des Landes Wien" (Golden Medal of honour
of Vienna) in the Viennese townhall.
"Hansi Lang embodies the Austrian variation of New Wave,
which wouldn't have happened without him", mentioned
the Viennese alderman of cultur Dr. Andreas Mailath-Pokorny
during the ceremony.
Musician and producer Thomas Rabitsch (Falco, VSOP) was holding
the laudation for his long-time friend and companion:
"Hansi Lang had always one simple condition for his art:
It must be honest and needs to come deep out of his soulˇ¨.
Hansi Lang never chummed up to the mainstream and lives
a life without artistic compromise.

Biography Hansi Lang:
Hansi Lang was born in 1955 in Vienna as son of an American
occupation officer and a bohemian mother.
Aged 13 he played his first concert as a drummer. Shortly
after he discovered his vocal gift and sang in various bands.
End 1975 he joined the famous "Hallucination Company",
the Austrian Rocktheatre founded by Wickerl Adam, who got
the Amadeus Award for life's work 2006. Over the year other
famous names like Falco, Andy Baum and Gunther "Mo"
Mokesch were members of "the company".
1980 Hansi Lang started his solocarrier and released the
albums "Keine Angst", "Der Taucher" and
"Losgeher" over the years.
In the 90ies he began acting and played on famous stage
as the "Kammerspiele" and the "Theater in der
Josefstadt" in Vienna.
The year 2000 was branded by the "Falco Cyber Show"
shown in the "Wiener Ronacher" theatre. Hansi Lang
played "Citizen Cain"
In 2005 he was able to register big success with "This
is the Slowclub". Songs bei Nat King Cole, Cole Porter,
Billy Holiday and others presented in complete new and modern
arrangements accompanied by "I-Wolf" (Sofasurfers)
and Thomas Rabitsch. This album was honored with the Amadeus
Award 2006, best album Jazz/Blues.
Actually Hansi Lang is present with arrangements of "the
Golowin Songs" (Friedrich Gulda used this synonym to
write Viennese Folk songs) and musical versions from poems
by H.C. Artmann. This program is called "the Bay of Vienna".
